Our Story
In 1988, an Australian businessman started refilling computer printer cartridges in his garage. His hobby grew into a viable business, and by 1997, he established Cartridge World as an international franchise. Today there are more than 1,700 stores open worldwide.
The Cartridge World family of stores grew rapidly in Australia and the United Kingdom. By 2003, Cartridge World set its sights on the world's most promising consumer market: The United States. Cartridge World North America established 13 regions and began to populate the market with the Cartridge World brand.
2004 marked the breakout year for store growth in the U.S. The training program was expanded and brought to a new 6,000-square-foot facility within the new 20,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Emeryville, California. In less than a year, more than 100 stores were open and operating.
On average, one new store is opened every day! With a strong corporate infrastructure in place, Cartridge World North America is poised to assume its place as the largest component of the international Cartridge World family.
In 2007, Cartridge World and its U.S. customers will have avoided 1 million pounds of carbon emissions by avoiding the global transportation of new cartridges.
